2021 Rookie QB Rankings: It takes two to make a thing go right

It’s Week 13 of the NFL season, and rookie quarterbacks are front and center, with some living up to the hype and others not as much. With that, let’s look at how the 2021 rookie class fared in Week 13. 6. Trey Lance source: Getty Images The 49ers lost to the Seahawks, 30-23, and Lance is still riding the bench. Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan seems to have little to no use for Lance at this point, even on RPO (run-pass option) plays where he should be utilized. With only five games left, and the Niners still alive in the wild-card race, any hope of seeing Lance play again this year may be a wrap. 5. The midfielder collapsed on the pitch towards the end of the first half of Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 game against Finland. Eriksen was quickly attended to by medical staff and was given CPR while his teammates created a circular shield to prevent fans and TV cameras from looking in.

Eriksen was taken to the nearby hospital Rigshospitalet and the Danish FA tweeted that he was awake at 6.30pm on Saturday.

Graham Potter urges beleaguered Chelsea to ‘be positive, move forward’

Graham Potter has said Chelsea must be positive against Crystal Palace on Sunday as they attempt to revive their season after the disastrous run that has piled pressure on the manager.

Thursday’s defeat at Fulham – their seventh from nine matches – left Chelsea 10th and cut adrift in the race for Champions League qualification. The former Brighton manager appealed for patience from supporters, with angry scenes in the away end at Craven Cottage when some Chelsea players went down the tunnel without acknowledging the fans.

Paul Scholes: ‘Kobbie Mainoo amazes me. It’s almost like poetry in motion’

“I’m not sure you can train it – I think it’s just in you,” Paul Scholes says of the fundamental qualities that made him the most decorated English footballer: calmness and composure. Those asking after England’s Euro 2024 final defeat last month where the country’s Rodri, Modric or Kroos was, could just as easily have wondered: “Where is our Scholes?”

Well, the midfield past master is here, at a special free school in Stretford, Greater Manchester – like the one his son, Aiden, attended – learning how the funds from a charity match will help. He’s wiping a mild sweat off his brow after playing football with a class of kids. And here he is, eulogising Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester United’s young midfielder who many beli…

Deadspin watched the NFL Draft so you didn't have to

Welcome to the Deadspin 2023 NFL Draft tracker. If you love the NFL, but hate sitting through the NFL Draft, you’ve come to the right place. Maybe you’re out playing pickleball, or you can’t stand Roger Goodell, or the annual traditions of super-cringey interviews with players and family put you off. Either way, we’ll be here tracking both the picks and the drama all throughout Round 1. Make sure to check back! Updates (latest at top): Thanks to Tweeter @ShawnRobertsKC, the cover band has been identified. Kansas City has officially ruined “Fight for Your Right to Party.” CRINGE. Goodell loves all the players so much on Draft Night. Not so much later. “This city of Kansas City.” Have we ever seen a shirtless pic in a video package before? Jerry Jones’ lair is str…

A Full-Speed Marcus Mariota Makes Oregon Look Like Oregon Again

The Oregon Ducks' 30-7 trouncing of Texas in the Alamo Bowl
tonight was no real surprise, given that Vegas pegged the Longhorns as
two-touchdown dogs, and that Marcus Mariota is back, iffy knee and all. Mariota
finished 18 of 26 for 253 yards and 133 yards rushing, his best overall game since
before UCLA injured him in the Ducks' eighth game. Oregon lost two of four after that game against the Bruins. After rushing for 493 yards on 49 carries in the first seven
games, he closed with 89 yards on 32 carries in the final five games. The head
injury in an ugly loss to Arizona
was the capper. He went from Heisman favorite to falling out of the top 10 in the vote. A
lonely nation turned its eyes toward the icky spectacle of Jameis Winston.
Super Mario led his 10th-ranked team into …

Your Slightly Early Oscar Predictions For 2014

The only thing we know for certain about next year's Oscars is that: a) Seth MacFarlane won't be hosting them, and b) It's pretty stupid to be talking about them already. But being stupid has never stopped me before. So, considering the Oscars have been over for roughly 40 hours now, it seems the perfect time—the perfect time!—to speculate about next year's Oscars, sure to be hosted by a holographic monkey voiced by Mark Wahlberg. In some ways, looking forward to movies is almost more fun than actually watching them. Thus, here are my complete out-of-random-orifice guesses for the nine films to be nominated for Best Picture in 2014. Obviously, I haven't seen any of these movies; one of them has already been shown at the Sundance Film Festival, but otherwise…

At This Rate, There Will Be A Whitlock Channel In 2009

The Don Imus controversy has been very very good to Jason Whitlock… and it might only be getting better. Whitlock revealed yesterday that WFAN had been in touch with him about taking over the old Imus time slot. He talked about it on the air with Mike Francesa and Chris Russo (currently covering the Imus time slot) yesterday: Whitlock did not rule out interest in the Imus slot but said he first must decide whether he is prepared to move from Kansas City to New York and accept the morning radio lifestyle.
"You guys from New York, you all think this is the end all, be all, and how could you not want to be here?'' Whitlock said. "I like to have a life. I've got — — I'd like to do.'" He is the media darling of the moment, and he can be an en…
